Hello all
I have a 12 inch 8 ohm speaker, made by Eminence, for BIG CAT, which I would
like your assistance in identifying in terms of wattage, sensitivity, freq
response ect.
On the back of the magnet it has, in large letters, "Made exclusivly for BIG
CAT"
A label on the side of the magnet reads: -
ME12-100LEB
121 051 8ohm
67-92460362 61
Big Cat was Maplin's brand name for their speaker range in the late
80s and early 90s. It also included speakers made by Fane, as well as
Emminence. The Maplin catalogue of 2000-2001 lists a number of speakers
under Emminance's own brand but no Big Cat speakers any more. Amongst
them is the Guitar Legend LE12-100, which looks very similar to the part
number you have listed ME12-100LEB [M=Maplin?]

Anyway it's rated at 100 watts RMS, Sens 99db/1m.
Freq Resp - 95Hz-6kHz +/- 6dB
It also lists a whole bunch of Theile-Small parameters for those
wanting to build a tuned cabinet.

That's about as near I can find

Thank you "tnn" for the information about the speaker.
I did not want to fit it into the cabinet without knowing what it was :)
As my valve amplifier is 25 Watts there should be plenty of headroom.
I am making a 2 by 12 combo, the other speaker being a new Celestion
Vintage 30. Looking at their frequency responses they "may" compliment each
other,
otherwise its out with the wallet to replace the Eminence.
