Hi all,

I'm looking for a footswitch for my Roland Cube 30 amp, so that I can
knock FX on and off and switch channels. The recommended footswitch is
the Boss FS-6, but they seem to be out of stock pretty much everywhere
at the moment.

Does anyone know where I can get one, or whether there's a footswitch
from another vendor that would do the job equally well?

TIA

Try eBay. There's usually dual footswitches on offer there (usually
Marshall ones) and you can pick them up for around £10. I got a
Peavey dual switch for £8 from their and it worked great on a Vox
AD50 Valvetronix - except channel and FX switches were reversed
from what the switch said. I couple of sticky labels did the trick,
or I could have reversed the wiring in the jack plug.

Cheers, I had looked on Ebay already but only for the FS-6 itself. Is
it the case that absolutely any dual footswitch will do what I want
(with the possibility of the functions being reversed, as you
described) ?

Assuming it's just a 1/4 inch stereo jack socket for the switch - AIUI,
yes. But you might just want to double check it by scrounging a switch
briefly. Worked fine for me with the Vox.

FYI v-amp owners. I wanted to get another footswitch for my GT6B as it
doesn't have enough pedals for my liking. The dual pedal included with the
v-amp works a treat. It should work with practically anything else that
requires a 1/4" pedal type thingy. Have a look around for an unwanted v-amp
one, should do you fine.

I'll second that, I use the v amp foot pedal with my roland Cube 30 and it
works a treat

Some amps need a momentary switch to operate properly.

Insert a guitar lead into the socket and short the tip and sleeve together
briefly and see if it remains switched. If so, it needs a momentary switch,
or it might not switch back.

You need the UNLATCHED version, which IIRC is the FS-6U - Bespeco do an
unlatched switch, practically identical to the Boss one, but about 1/3rd the
price.

This also known as a MOMENTARY switch. A latching switch will not generally
work in its place.
